The biggest decorating trend in New Orleans spring 2021 was to create a “House Float”, by decorating a front porch to resemble a Mardi Gras parade float. This originated as a program to employ carnival artists whose livelihood was put on hold during pandemic lockdowns. While a house can illustrate any theme imaginable, one common trend on our Southern homes is large decorative flowers.
While most artists use traditional paper and glue, I developed my own techniques that is based on awning construction and materials. My flowers have metal frames, sun-proof plastic petals, deck-grade wood bases, and no glue! They can be fully exposed to weather: sun, water, wind. You can spray them with a hose if they get dirty. They are ready to hang on built-in hooks.
I have some inventory listed below, but the best way to shop is at my studio (by appointment)! Any flowers can be made to order. Leaves can be added to any flower. Measurements are diameter from petal tip to tip. Pickup or delivery in New Orleans, shipping could be available. I make these in my “spare time” to cover the price of home insurance in Louisiana.
